Dr. Mauldin was one of five women in her dental class out of a graduating class of 50. She graduated summa cum laude with her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Mississippi School Of Dentistry in 1984. She and her brother, Dr. Paul Ballard were the first pair of siblings to begin their studies and earn their DMD degrees in the same year. She was also one of the few women in this area of Mississippi to start a solo dental practice.

During her career, Dr. Mauldin served six years as the first female Speaker of the House for the Mississippi Dental Association, and has served on many of the association’s committees. She holds memberships in the American Dental Association®, the Mississippi Dental Association and the Mississippi Association of Women Dentists. She is a fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists. She holds a masters in the Academy of General Dentistry.  From 2000 to 2002, she had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer dentist for the Holland America cruise line.

She served as the Finance Chair at Petal United Methodist Church and now attends the Petal Presbyterian Church. For over 20 years she has volunteered weeks of her time on dental mission trips to Peru, Nepal, Nicaragua and Honduras.  She also is involved with the Edwards Street Fellowship Mission in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Currently, she is chair of the Rotary 101 minutes for her club.

Dr. Mauldin and her husband, Dick, have four sons and a daughter.  She loves to ballroom dance, snow ski, restore neglected houses, cook for her family and relax with a good book. She is still an avid dancer and helps with beginning dancers at her studio, Studio 117.
